Q: What is the recommended tyre pressure for my car?
Q: How often should I change my car’s oil?
A: Depending on which comes first, your owner’s handbook should advise changing your car’s oil every 6 to 12 months or every 12,000 to 16,000 km (7,500 to 10,000 miles). A more frequent schedule, such as every 8,000 km (5,000 miles) or a year, is a typical and safe practice for older vehicles with less-than-ideal driving conditions or to maximize longevity. Because intervals vary depending on the vehicle and kind of oil, always heed the manufacturer’s advice. Q: What is an auction report?
A: All used cars in Japan undergo an extensive inspection before a car auction begins. Auction report is the overall assessment of a car produced by a licensed inspector hired by auction houses.
For an inspector to grade a car, all cars will undergo a full mechanical inspection, including the odometer, interior, and exterior parts of the vehicle, and graded based on a set of standards. Aside from the grade, the auction report also displays the inspector’s explanation for the grades awarded to the car, along with a grade for its overall condition.
At Vroom, we display our cars’ auction report online free of charge and we also offer three assurances that every car you see online:
- are unedited auction report;
- has not been in a major accident; and
- has not been through a flood.
But we do not guarantee error-free auction reports as minor mistakes (e.g. missed out a stone chip on the front bumper) may still occur during an inspection.
Q: What if the car I am looking for does not have an auction report?
A: Some cars listed online have not been auctioned and thus have not been assessed.
We still provide two assurances for every car you see online (without an auction report):
- has not been in a major accident; and
- has not been in a flood.
To get to know your car better, we recommend sending it to an impartial third-party workshop for an inspection. The inspection charge will be paid by the consumer.
Q: Do you ever sell cars “as is”?
A: Most of the automobiles we source are never offered to you “as-is,” but to ensure the authenticity of the car according to the auction record, we will touch-up/repair any imperfections before delivery.
Q: What if I want to trade in my current car?
A: Yes. Please contact us via WhatsApp for more information. In certain cases, you may be required to bring your car to our showroom and we will perform an appraisal.
